This Privacy Policy explains what information FreeGPT.IM (https://freegpt.im, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the site, how we use that information, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service.
- Prompts and reference images are sent to the model provider to fulfil your request. Processing can use temporary server storage. Task records and results may also be stored for account history or, only with the task-specific permission below, public examples. Local browser copies are not a permanent backup.
- Request metadata. For abuse prevention and rate-limiting we log IP address, coarse geolocation (country / timezone), browser fingerprint, user-agent, timestamp, and outcome of each generation attempt.
- Cookies & similar technologies. We use cookies and local storage for theme preference, language, rate-limit accounting, human-verification (Cloudflare Turnstile), and advertising (see Section 4).
- Free use does not require an account. When Google sign-in and paid features are enabled, we process the profile and email provided by Google, account identifiers, and subscription and payment records. Stripe processes payment details.
2. How we use information
- To deliver the generation service you requested.
- To enforce fair-use limits and protect the service from automated abuse (rate limiting, human verification, region-based throttling).
- To diagnose errors and improve reliability.
- To serve and measure advertising that funds the free service.
- To comply with applicable law.
3. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
Where GDPR applies we process personal data under the following legal bases: (a) performance of a contract (delivering the service you request), (b) our legitimate interests in preventing abuse and keeping the service sustainable, and (c) your consent for non-essential cookies, including personalised advertising.
4. Advertising and third-party vendors
The free service is funded by advertising. We work with third-party ad networks, including Google AdSense, who may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the Internet.

5. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics (for example, Plausible or Google Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic patterns. Where Google Analytics is used we enable IP anonymisation and do not associate analytics identifiers with any personally identifiable information.
6. Model provider
Generation requests are processed by our upstream model provider (OpenAI or a compatible gateway). Your prompt and any uploaded images are transmitted to the provider to produce the output and are subject to the provider’s own policies. Do not submit confidential, personal, or unlawful content.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only:
- With service providers who help us run the site (hosting, CDN, anti-abuse, analytics, advertising) under contractual confidentiality obligations.
- When required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ourselves or others.
- Before each free generation, you must explicitly confirm permission for that task’s prompt and generated images to be stored and displayed in public examples or galleries. We record the confirmation time and consent version. This does not include reference images, uploaded originals, account details or email addresses. Free tasks without this confirmation, including older tasks, are not newly added to public collections. Paid generation records and images are not publicly displayed and require sign-in to the owning account for access. This permission does not apply to all tasks merely because an account has a subscription.
8. International transfers
The service is delivered from globally distributed infrastructure. Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where applicable we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Retention
Abuse-prevention logs are retained for up to 90 days and then purged or aggregated. Your gallery is stored in your browser’s IndexedDB and can be cleared from the gallery. Generation and reference-image processing can involve temporary storage on our infrastructure and upstream providers; these processing files are not a permanent backup of your gallery.
10. Your rights
Subject to applicable law (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA / CPRA, LGPD, and others), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing or withdraw consent. You can send valid requests to the contact address below.
11. Children
The service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by a notice on the site.
